CNA Classes in Colorado

How to train as a CNA in Colorado

CNA programs in this state are accredited in two steps: first, by the Colorado Department of Health and then they are approved by the state board of nursing.

CNA training programs typically last a couple of months – in study hours, the range is from 70 to 140 hours. In order to pass the exam at the end of the program, you must finish and successfully pass both the practical skills part and the classroom part of the exam. Once you’ve passed both section you can then take the state competency examination and become certified. The theory (or classroom) part of the program covers topics such as medical terminology, patient care, anatomy and the rights of a patient.

Requirements before you take a CNA Class in Colorado

Much like the other states, Colorado has three main requirements:

  • age: you must be over 16 to take the classes (and you must be over 18 to apply for a job)
  • qualification: the state doesn’t require you to have a high school diploma or GED, but the CNA provider might ask for minimum qualifications
  • health: you will be asked to prove you are healthy and do not require vaccinations
